The Fantastic Four
SUGD
Centered in the historical Sogdiana, it is located in the northwest of the country. The Syr Darya river flows through it.Sughd is separated from the rest of Tajikistan by the Gissar Range.
RRP
Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, is surrounded by the Districts under Central Government Jurisdiction. The plateau is traversed by the river Vakhsh, a right-hand tributary of the Amu Darya.
Khatlon
It is situated in the southwest of the country, between the Hisor (Gissar) Range in the north and the river Panj in the south and borders on Afghanistan in the southeast and on Uzbekistan.
GBAO
The GBAO is the official name of the Tajik half of the region of Badakhshan, the other half being in Afghanistan. The province is almost entirely mountainous, having virtually no level or arable land.
